Prior to her medical training, she received a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from Pacific Union College. Her medical internship focused on integrative primary care and included over 200 hours of preceptorship in primary care services for underserved populations, a six-month clinical mentorship in cardiopulmonary medicine with Martin Milner, ND and Nathanial Bingham, ND. During residency, Dr. Tak completed a one-year clinical mentorship in integrative women’s health with Tammy Ashney, ND, a sixth-month clinical mentorship in primary care for the underserved communities with Maleah Ermac, ND, as well as external rotations in obstetric-gynecology, emergency medicine, and integrative primary care at OHSU, Adventist Medical Center, and The Oregon Clinic. Her third year of residency focused on regenerative medicine with Donald McBride, ND and continues to be extensively trained in orthopedic regenerative medicine. Growing up, acupuncture and utilizing Eastern herbs to optimize her health was part of the norm. She appreciated how in-depth the practitioner wanted to learn about the entirety of her medical history and how they focused on the body as a whole and not just on a particular part. Through personal family experiences and attending health brigades, she also witnessed life-changing conventional treatments and procedures. But it left her wondering how the two different approaches to healthcare can be blended. During her senior year of college, she was introduced to naturopathic medicine (big shout out to her sister-in-law!). This was exactly what she had been searching for and the rest is history. She decided to pursue a career that blends the conventional field and a form of medicine deeply rooted in tradition.
